Santa Clarita protest begins peacefully
The Santa Clarita Valley made its voice heard Thursday over the Minnesota death of George Floyd in police custody as a noon protest began at Valencia Boulevard and McBean Parkway.
The demonstrators held signs in support of the Black Lives Matter movement. One sign read, “Racism is a sin — white supremacy is a scourge on the nation.”
Another read, “We hold these truths to be self-evident that Black Lives Matter.”
Even though Los Angeles County has ended its curfew, the city of Santa Clarita voted Wednesday to declare a local emergency and a 6 p.m.-to-6 a.m. curfew.
