Jinger Duggar Shares She’s Pregnant & Expecting a Baby Girl After Suffering Miscarriage

The Duggar family is growing once again: 26-year-old Jinger Duggar and husband Jeremy Vuolo are expecting their second child, a baby girl, later this year.

Duggar, who is mom of 2-year-old Felicity, revealed the news to People on Thursday, along with the fact that she’s currently 15 weeks pregnant.

“Everything looks great with the baby,” Duggar said. “We’re so thankful. Had a lot of check-ups and we’re just really, really excited.”

In the feature, which includes a pink-hued baby bump photoshoot, the Counting On star and her husband also revealed that she had previously experienced a miscarriage.

“The morning after we announced to family that we were expecting, Jinger woke up and, woke me up very early in the morning,” Vuolo said. “She thought she lost the baby.

We found out later that day that she had. That was very difficult and definitely a trial for us.”

Duggar agreed, adding that it was a “tremendous blessing” that her family supported the couple as they processed their emotions. “We were just praying together talking with family, had friends at our church here that just surrounded us. It was such a hard time, but Jer just really supported me,” she said.

The duo are already sharing their news with 2-year-old Felicity, who “doesn’t quite understand everything yet,” her mom said. “She comes up to my belly and says, ‘Baby. Baby.’”

Duggar isn’t the only person in the spotlight using her platform to open up about miscarriage, and that’s for the better.

After all, the emotional pain of losing a baby can be compounded by stigma, and feeling like you shouldn’t talk about the experience. But miscarriage is common, and everyone from Carrie Underwood to Gabrielle Union to Beyoncé herself have shared their experiences with the world.

“For my body to not be doing something it was ‘supposed to do’ was a tough pill to swallow,” Underwood said in an interview with Women’s Health earlier this year “It reminded me I’m not in control of everything.”
