First Dates Hotel guest tries to set up Fred Sirieix with her mum

First Dates Hotel typically sets out to find matches for its single guests, but tonight's episode saw a guest turn the tables on (engaged) maitre d' Fred Sirieix.
Channel 4 returned to the Amalfi Coast for more first dates (and fewer shock twists) on Thursday (May 14), but within minutes of the episode beginning, Fred was left flabbergasted as one of the hotel's guests asked after his own love life.
But Hayley wasn't hoping to enjoy a candlelit dinner with Fred herself. Nope, instead she set out with the aim of setting Fred up on a date with her mum.

As Fred was walking around the pool checking on guests, he soon got caught up in a conversation with Hayley, only for her to question whether or not he was single himself.
"No," Fred replied, prompting Hayley to say: "Oh that's a shame... my mum's lovely."
"You were going to introduce me to your mum?" Fred questioned.
"Yeah, I was going to introduce you to my mum," Hayley confirmed. "She's so keen."

Not long after that, Fred jumped up and made a polite getaway – and viewers were quick to pick up on the whole exchange too:

First Dates Hotel is on Channel 4, Thursdays at 9pm.
Unfortunately for Hayley's mum, Fred recently revealed that he's engaged to his girlfriend of two years. Back in March, he shared a picture of himself and his now-fiancée, who he calls 'fruitcake' on social media, and wrote: "#fruitcake said yes," alongside a diamond ring emoji.
The couple have been dating since January 2018, which just goes to show that we should probably leave the matchmaking to the professionals.
First Dates Hotel continues next Thursday (May 21) at 9pm on Channel 4.
