Back in February, before the entire world slowed to a halt due to the coronavirus pandemic, Brandon Beane was already wondering how he would fit in all of his pre-draft visits.
The NFL switched the process at the combine, leaving teams with 45 prospect meetings in Indianapolis as opposed to the usual 60. That made pro days, private workouts and the 30 visits a team can host at its facility even more important. By mid-March, however, those were shut down due to the virus. Travel restrictions and shelter-in-place guidelines made in-person contact with players impossible. Pro days were cancelled. A piece of the puzzle Beane considers so important was now very different.
